Dr. June Cara Christian brings more than15 years of education experience to her role as a teaching and learning specialist for Teaching Tolerance. She has taught secondary, undergraduate and graduate students, and is an expert in critical pedagogies. Christian holds B.A. and M.A. degrees in English literature (from Washington University and Tennessee State, respectively), an M.Ed. with an emphasis in American culture from Washington University, and a Ph.D. in education leadership and policy from University of Missouri—St. Louis. David Knight teaches at Boston Arts Academy, a public school for the visual and performing arts. Previously, he taught middle and high school humanities in Boston and San Francisco and also has experience in youth development. A graduate of Dartmouth, Stanford and Harvard, David writes on issues related to race, adolescent development and teaching for social justice.

Becki Cohn-Vargas is the director of Not In Our School (NIOS) and a national speaker on the subject of school-based bullying. Currently she develops standards-based bullying prevention curriculum and has worked with over 150 NIOS efforts at schools and colleges across the United States. Earlier in her career, she spent over 35 years in public education in California. Her new book,“ Identity Safe Classrooms: Places to Belong and Learn,” co-authored with Dorothy Steele, was published by Corwin Press .
